45 - VAR check for possible hosts red card . 91 - Lamptey receives a second yellow and is sent off.
93 - penalty given to Villa, decision reversed.

SUBS: 46 - Veltman for Lallana . 80 - Burn for Maupay . 96 - Molumby for Gross.


SYNOPSIS: against run of play travellers opened the scoring from a counter attack with their first foray up field. Perceived former domination from hosts became reality as they created clear opportunities to score by way of response.
Albion worked more into the contest prior to approach of the interval. Bizarrely Villa now relied with breaking on transition.
All blue rode their luck while an echoing stadium clock steadily ticked past forty-five minutes.
On turnaround Veltman took up a spot in rearguard and White went into midfield. Villans netted a soft equaliser immediately and so even steven resumed... until Seagulls soon restored a lead before the hour mark.
Later change of personnel saw reshuffling of visitors player positions and formation. Defending was at a prime by stoppage.
In the event Albion saw it out during dramatic final stages with Ref also under pressure to make correct decisions.
MoM - Welbeck, strikers all round display.

NUMBERS: poss 55%-45%, on target 4-3, off target 11-4, corners 12-3, fouls 5-18, yellows 2-2, red 0-1, subs 2-3.

CONCLUSION: a valuable victory that redresses balance in levels of previous performances to results obtained.
