SYNOPSIS: following a bright start by visitors on a previously rain-soaked surface, locals began to find their feet. Chances came and went from Seagulls superior possession, pressure during build up and assorted set pieces. Echoes from vocal match-day support teams left impressions of a game in need of goals to cause excitement above mundane levels. At the interval an own goal was the actual difference that counted.
In the second period that turgid Monday feeling continued unabated past the hour mark. Potter then introduced Gross as playmaker on a testing pitch.
Travellers soon made a double swap in response and upped the ante. BHA switched to 442 when Mac Allister arrived to bolster midfield, White dropping to rearguard in the reshuffle.
Albion were weathering a Brom rally and threw on Alzate for the final quarter.
At end of the day hosts did not score, merely maintaining status quo against limited opposition. Any perceived home advantage disappeared quickly as Potter became reactive to visitors second forty-five minute rally.
MoM: Lallana, class act for an hour.
NUMBERS: poss 50%-50%, on target 3-3, off target 2-6, corners 6-2, fouls 14-7, yellows 2-0, subs 3-3.
