ALBION GIVE NO REVERENCE TO RED DEVILS ON SUNDAY

RESULT; 3-2 ~ Murray, Duffy, Gross . (h-t 3-1) . SHAPE; 4-4-1-1 . REF; by the good book to the very end.
OVERTURE; it was teatime on the Sabbath when fans reassembled for this initial community stadium gathering of the second Prem season. Locals were praying for another miracle, three months after a corresponding deliverance to remain in the promised land.
GAYE; 30,592 . WEATHER; mild & cloudy.
CHRIS HUGHTON had numerous additions, to those retained from last term, from which to select a starting eleven. In the event he went for tried &tested. Montoya made an Amex PL debut. Other new signings sat among substitutes.

GOALS; 25 - 1-0. Locals were making the play and the ball went across midfield to March on left flank. His low centre was clipped in by MURRAY at the near upright.
27 - 2-0. At a corner the ball ricochet low across the box twice before the last contact was made by DUFFY.
34 - 2-1. At a set piece Albion defenders failed to clear a crowded area and the ball lobbed high to the opposition striker.
44 - 3-1. A thru ball set up a chance in the area but GROSS got floored. He stood up and stroked the spot kick down the middle.
95 - 3-2. A drive into hosts box is met with players feet flailing. Ref again awards a penalty at that end.
INCIDENTS; 10 - Dunk was caught outside the D and eventually received treatment. His aggressor immediately drove the ball past a post.
YELLOWS; 67 - Murray entered the black book when Ref decided he was a tad too enthusiastic in disputing possession.
SUBS; 20 - Balogun came on for injured Dunk. Stephens took the armband.
90 - in a very late change to fill time, Kayal took over from Gross. 93 - likewise Locadia replaced Murray.
ANALYSIS; a game of two halves in so much as the second period was a product of cause & effect, from four goals scored prior to the interval. Opposition then inserted two England squad players in an attempt to turn things around, or latterly with their last international substitution, salvage something from the contest.
Albion conceded possession but largely contained direct or indirect incursions & threats almost to the final whistle. Play was predominately open, although hosts defensive shape and willingness to tackle danger tipped the balance in favour of keeping the overall score down.
Man of the match - Propper.
1ST FAN; +got to say that United hardly turned up once more. Having said that, Albion did what they had to do to win+
2ND FAN; +we were in dreamland by half an hour gone wondering if it was possible to get three and hammer a top six outfit+
3RD FAN; +you could not make it up! We beat them last May to stay up and go and do it again against long odds to record our first points this term+
