RESULT: 1-2 ~ Mac Allister . (h-t 1-1)

VENUE: the Amex, Falmer - seventh home match of 14 fixtures to date . Sun 2:00pm.
BEFORE KICKOFF: Brighton fans were checking brightonfans to see if we had another match here before end of this year.
But it might be worse - covid meant enforced cold turkey thru winter & spring of 20/21.
So waiting would be endured.
WEATHER: mild . . . GATE: 31,561 . . . ATMOSPHERE: defaulted to those bottom-six days of angst.

ROBERTO de ZERBI consulted the numerical list of shirts and found tics against each number bar one still in rehabilitation.
RdZ altered things, especially at the back. Some players were noticeable by their absence.

GOALS:

1-1 - 20 . Dunk was adjudged to have brought down the attacker who bought it. Sanchez got a hand to the ball.
1-2 - 54 . a comedy of errors in hosts area as the striker persisted with nuisance value and his luck was in.

YELLOWS: Caicedo, Gross . De Zerbi unhappy with officials.

CHANGES: 5 - Enciso for Lallana . 59 - Undav & Veltman for Welbeck & Enciso .
81 - Lamptey for Estupinan

FIRST HALF: after that initial goal-scoring press hosts sat back with carefree attitude and failed to kill off opponents.
The away outfit chased around and latched onto a thru ball - the final decision via VAR to stimulate travelling support.
SECOND HALF: a sucker punch early after turnaround and visitors had gained the initiative by leading with have & hold.
A toiling performance by locals did not alter the For column at all, although other stats increased in proportion.

OVERVIEW: Seagulls were not getting balls into their point man and neither for his replacement at a critical time.
Villa had grit & determination which blue & white shirts lacked with persistent over-playing and lack of forceful drive.
IN THE END: a frustrating home defeat that was avoidable but exposed the soft underbelly of hosts current squad.
