FIRST HALF: there was cut & thrust from both sides during fairly equal possession under a relentless sun.
But it developed into a midfield battle of attrition interspersed with a selection of half-chances at each end.
SECOND HALF: more goal-scoring opportunities developed for hosts either side of the second water break.
Substitutions appeared on cue to keep pedal to the metal but visitors defence held firm, if not exactly cancelling out strong domestic attacks.

IN THE END: it finished goalless, which somehow seemed difficult considering rising temperatures.
