Post Match report for the Huddersfield game - Saturday, 1st December 2018
PREMIER LEAGUE; Huddersfield v Brighton
ALBION DO NOT FIND HISTORY REPEATING AT TOWN
VENUE; John Smiths Stadium, Huddersfield. Eighth away game of 14 fixtures.
RESULT; 1-2 ~ Duffy, Andone . (h-t 1-1) . SHAPE; 4-5-1 . REF; experienced and did what he had to do.
PREAMBLE; the campaign entered December with a trip up north and this month would be very busy, both on the road and at the Amex to boot. Seagulls were struggling again this term with lack of points on travels, so today could be considered a first in several respects.
GATE; 22,973 . WEATHER; wind & rain.
CHRIS HUGHTON, with three matches this week, took the opportunity to make changes. March was restored to the starting line-up, while Bissouma & crucially Andone were also picked to begin. Therefore substitutes appeared well bolstered.
TEAM; . . . . . . . . . 1 Ryan
. . 2 Bruno, 4 Duffy, 5 Dunk, 30 Bernardo
. 20 March, 24 Propper, 8 Bissouma, 19 Izquierdo
. . . . . . . . 13 Gross, . . . . . 10 Andone
BENCH; 23 Steel, 3 Bong, 14 Balogun (78), 7 Kayal (90), 11 Knockaert, 17 Murray (79), 9 Locadia.
GOALS; 1 - 1-0. A clearance by Bruno skied deep into the area and Ryan appeared to be flat footed as the striker scored with their first attack.
45+ - 1-1. A quick corner taken by Bruno was clipped to March who crossed for DUFFY to head in from close range in stoppage time.
69 - 1-2. Pressure in build up from travellers resulted in March providing a centre for ANDONE to glance a near-post header.
INCIDENTS; 32 - Bissouma got crunched by a horrendous challenge. The offending host player was immediately dismissed.
YELLOWS; 39 - Bruno slid in and the defender took a theatrical tumble. 82 - Balogun, newly arrived on the pitch, clattered his man.
SUBS; 78 - Bruno was withdrawn for Balogun. A minute later debutant Andone was replaced by Murray. 90 - at the death Bissouma came off and Kayal came on.
ANALYSIS; the clean sheet disappeared with alacrity then visitors were behind for 45 minutes and chasing the game from opening seconds. For the third contest running a red card altered shape of play. Parity was restored just prior to the break which possibly eased ferocity of the pep talk at halftime.
Predictably Albion had more possession in the second period and produced enough attempts to register the leading goal. The anticipated late rally by locals was contained without exactly impressing away support by superior game management.
NUMBERS; shape 3511-451, poss 33%-67%, on target 2-6, off target 3-3, corners 2-5, fouls 10-12, yellows 0-2, reds 1-0, subs 3-3. MoM - Andone.
