Whatever transpired today would still be preferable to no elite soccer at all.

GRAHAM POTTER probably did not have second helpings of Xmas pud, thus resisting night-time nervous indigestion as he lay in bed contemplating this travelling squad and starting eleven. Further lack of points would provoke more than stomach trouble.

1-1 - 60 . Seagulls are backpedalling but have numbers in the danger zone at a specultative centre from wide.

2-2 - 82 . Travellers concede once more from a corner when zonal marking across the area misfires.

SYNOPSIS: useful possession and pressure from visitors following the get go recorded positive stats and a couple or so of likely chances to boot.
By comparison Hammers offense were metaphorically munching mince pies, supping mulled wine and relaxing in slippers near a warming log fire.
Immediately prior to the interval blue shirts nudged ahead from scoring first.
Hosts made two changes on turnaround and upped the ante as anticipated.
The initial clean sheet disappeared too soon in a contest beginning to fit profiles of the proverbial game of two halves.
