Bognor
Entertaining game tonight and worth the six quid.
Team-wise we looked pretty rusty against a Bognor team now just one step away from the County League but I guess it matters not a great deal at this
stage.
Encouragingly there was some bright individual performances from the newer players - Sparrow looked quite mobile and comfortable in possession, so
promising there. Baz (or "Chino" as the rest of the team kept shouting at him) looked like an Asian-Argentine version of LuaLua, not quite as quick
obviously but still a pretty lively, busy pace. And Jamie Smith showed tonight why Gus has given him another year, hard working and decent on the
ball.
Our first goal came from a good winger's run from the ever baffling Holroyd, who still looks a good player but just without any striker's instincts.
Him and Smith set up Murray for an easy finish. The second goal was a better finish by a Norwegian triallist called Midtgarden, who looks and plays a
bit like that ex-Leeds player Alan Smith.
Most of the team were subbed at the 70 minute stage for a very young team with only Harty and the triallist probably over 19, and Bognor took
advantage by scoring two good goals to draw the game. Fair play to them as they probably didn't deserve to be down by two any way.
Gus not best pleased though and took his frustrations out on the match officials
But all in all a very good workout and useful preparation for the more serious pre-season encounters to come.
There was a penalty shoout out at half-time which Albion won 5-4, Baz scoring the winner with one of those chip kicks that rarely ever come off when
it counts

I looked at a short video of the Nordic guy on the other forum and he looks very useful so maybe Gus will give a little longer.
thanks for the report LI
