Gus, Kenneth, & the contract extension.
Still no news about Mr Poyet sticking his signature on the dotted line. Am I justified in feeling a tad nervy, or am I worrying unnecessarily? I
thought it would've been all done & dusted by now tbh... x X

I personally wouldn't trust Ken Brown as far as I could pee into a force nine gale and guarantee not to get my legs wet, so not sure what the hold up
is but the club is certainly not being run for the fans as much as it used to be.
Oh Well

It does seem strange that it is taking so long when both sides say it is what they want.

Yet Calderon was only given a week and then told to get lost - double standards.

Calderon was told to get lost not because he was taking time but because he was courting other clubs.

His PFA agent Peter Smith was looking at other options to get his client's wages up, if that's what you mean.
You sure Gus's agent isn't stringing this out for the same reasons then?

I believe what you say there is part of the unfair demonisation directed at Calderon - Calderon's version is that he asked for extra time to agree
the contract, not that he agreed it - a much shorter time than Gus's agent is now taking to move matters along now with his client.
I have no idea what Gus's agent is up to and who he is speaking to.
But do you think Gus's agent wouldn't talk to other clubs about his client? How did Gus's move from Swindon to Leeds come about?
I would think Gus will probably sign after squeezing extra money out of Bloom - and Calderon has gone to Southampton for the same reasons. Nothing
wrong with what either of them have done or are doing.

I think much of the ire directed at Calderon was born of surprise, disappointment and frustration at the time.
I think we mostly assumed that as we were a club now on the up with a top manager at the helm, he would want to be a part of it.

Argus today seems to suggest Gus is due to sign a 4 year contract which is great news. My slight concern is Poyets statement that it was
'practically' impossible for him to be in line to take over from Paolo Sousa at Swansea. Hardly a definite no in my book. Hopefully this is cleared
up soon. To be fair to Tony Bloom I wouldn't sanction any big money moves for strikers or defenders until the ink has dried on Gus's new contract.
If we are realistic, he is bound to leave us within the next 4 years, (assuming he has success) however at least we would have a degree of certainty
about our manager and at least some compensation due if he got an offer he couldn't refuse.

first I heard about the Swans interest was yesterday when it came on the local news and it was being heralded as a forgone conclusion and then this
morning the same until I read on the BBC text that it was all b*****s just them trying to make it so because they said it was placating the Swans
supporters no doubt.
but I will be glad when he signs the contract,so we can get on with getting out of the 1st and into the Championship.

Poyet had applied for the Swansea job before I believe which is why I think he said it would be impossible for him. He's been turned down then and
has nothing on his cv to add as yet.
He seems settled here and whatever the odd bits and pieces are that are holding up his contract, both he and Bloom say it's about to be signed.
As you were.
