Squad
Just taking a browse through the near-final squad, on the club website where they've published the shirt numbers.
Have to say how encouraging it is to look down the list and see so many options and so few passengers, certainly compared to last season anyway. RS
really has built a good group. Roll on the weekend! Im excited!
Albion's squad numbers for the new season have been confirmed by boss Russell Slade, as follows.
1 Michel Kuipers
2 Andrew Whing
3 Jim McNulty
4 Tommy Elphick
6 Adam El-Abd
7 Dean Cox
8 Alan Navarro
9 Nicky Forster
10 Liam Dickinson
11 Kevin McLeod
12 James Tunnicliffe
13
14 David Livermore
15 Gary Hart
16 Colin Hawkins
17 Glenn Murray
18 Gary Dicker
19 Mark Wright
20 Andrew Crofts
21 Matt Thornhill
22 Graeme Smith
23 Adam Virgo
24 Jamie Smith
25 Craig Davies
30 Steve Cook
31 Josh Pelling
32 Steve Brinkhurst

Think there's room in the squad budget for a new photographer? Bladdy picture's wonky!

Could do with the names below the photo so we can put faces to names - for me I have no idea who half the players are?

Looks good for the start of the season. On paper there looks like very little fat to trim out of the squad now and all the new players look like they
will add something to the first team if they are selected. I'm still hoping Russell will add another attacking midfield option in case Thornhill
doesn't live up to expectation but we should be OK this season. Not expecting promotion but we will definitely be flirting more with the play offs
and hopefully resurrecting some home form.

I bounced this thread so someone here can post the 2010/2011 squad for this season. I've been on a long holiday and may have missed some signings. I
went to the home page and the current squad there has Russell Slade as our manager. Did I miss something?
Thank you whomever posts the updated list.

PTV haven't updated the club site yet (it is done centrally) but will try to get a list from somewhere.

Off the top of my head.
Keepers: Brezovan, Poke, Walker
Defenders: Whing, Calderon, Greer, Elphick, El-Abd, Tunnicliffe, Dunk, Painter, McNulty
Midfielders, Dicker, Navarro, Battipedi, Baz, Sparrow, Bennett, Caskey
Strikers: Murray, Barnes, Holroyd
Kishishev and Hart have been offered one year deals and there are a few other youngsters that can provide back up (Cook, Smith, Barker, etc).
So basically all we need now is left winger (Lua Lua hopefully) and a striker.

Maybe not a good idea to have bounced this thread - it shows how deceived we all were that the team was a good squad - well maybe it was on paper but
we all know what happened next!
Just hope the team we have now as listed by Beefy with the addition of the two extra players Gus expects to sign can do the Biz this time round - well
at least keep us in the top half of the table all season if nothing else.

Thank you Beefy. Ideally what I'm after is the 2010/11 squad list like it is in the first post of this thread. I printed that one last season and it
became a very handy reference guide. Here's hoping.

Yeah alright alright, my bad! I guess it goes to show about a team being 'more than the sum of their parts.' Last year we were the opposite until GP
got on board. Funny old game innit

Very struck by what Beefy says about just two players away from our end-goal. The squad-building has been quite measured rather than eye-catching.
Still pretty baffled about how good our chances of the play-offs are though - the defence looks the best it's been since 2005 with Greer and the
footballing fullbacks, but not convinced yet by our keeper options. Midfield, much depends on how well Sparrow does and if Bennett has that really big
season he's promising, and the uncertainty of LuaLua returning. The forward line is solid rather than crying out promotion goals at the moment - this
surely is the big crucial remaining signing.

It's actually the midfield that worries me a bit. Only Sparrow, Navarro, Dicker and Bennett are proven at this level. To include Caskey as a viable
asset to the first team is - i think - over optimistic at this stage, regardless of his undoubted potential. I guess there is still the unresolved
Hendrie signing...
Oh yeah we've just signed Kishishev. This makes me breathe more easily. I reckon this puts the nail in Hendrie's coffin - no
room for two 35 year old squad players surely.

I'm not a bit worried by the midfield. I think we are strong there although a pacy left winger like Lualua will be ideal.
We haven't seen what the Argentian duo are like yet. Caskey is comfortable in midfield and doesn't look out of place.

Two more to make the puzzle complete ,but then we might find that one of the Argentinians is a goal scorer who knows ...really only Gus, and I'm sure
he has said that we need another forward and maybe he will surprise us with a BIG signing before the start of the season

Not enough depth in our to squad strike fear into the top 3 or 4 yet but coming along nicely.
Its quite refreshing that GP seems to give a lot of thought to what sort of player to bring in rather than just bodies.
I am looking forward to the start of the coming season with real excitement. Not because I think we are going to tear the league up but because our
team will be trying to play some really entertaining football... Win or lose, I just know I am going to enjoy watching it.
