Although the end result is a disappointing defeat that scuppers our play off bid this season, there was a lot to cheer about last night. It was a very
good performance against a team that deserves to be in the Premiership next season under the astute Brian McDermott. We dominated for large spells
last night and showed plenty of attacking intent although without the cutting edge to convert the chances. Vicente was unbelievable and underlined the
fact that he is probably the best technical player to grace the blue and white stripes. However there were other notable contributions from El Abd who
had a proper battle on with Jason Roberts and came out ahead on points. Navarro was a midfield dynamo and proof that Poyet can coach and bring out the
very best in supposed journeyman players. Great to see Dicker back as well and and looking as fresh as ever, despite that terrible injury. We look
like a great passing team that just needs a few more quality additions in the close season to really have a go at promotion next season. We lack that
20 goal a season striker that can transform our fortunes - for me the jury is still out on CMS and Vokes. Barnes offers a lot more to the team so
shouldn't be judged purely on goals (although I bet he is gutted with that penalty miss). Plenty to be happy about though and a result on Saturday
against the Hammers could make things very interesting.

To be fair though, Lambert is the only striker in this league who has 20+ goals, just shows how defensively teams are getting a lot better and results
are getting tighter.

I agree and the '20 goal a season' mantra is often talked about but in reality I would rather have a team where goals are scored from the team
rather than an individual. That makes it harder for the opposition. I love it when Calde scores as he has a good tally for a RB. I know a good striker
is valuable but it's not the whole story. I want midfielders to score and was pleased to see Navarro having a good shot in last night. He scored a
cracker at Leeds.

Btw I haven't given up hope of the playoffs just yet. We're 2 points behind but I think there are many twists and turns yet to come.

From the accounts of the match that I have read, it sounds as though they more than held their own against Reading. I am particularly impressed that
the Seagulls have been so competitive in the Championship after only having been promoted at the end of last season. It certainly seems to speak
quite highly of Gus Poyet as a manager.
Even if the promotion playoffs elude us, this season seems to have been rather successful. At least from my great distance.
We have Seagulls (and their supporters) on the Left Coast of the US, as well!

It was a fantastic game and we were very unlucky - deserved a draw at minimum.
Yes we are still not out of it, probably 3 wins out of 4 will still get us there. Have to say I would be putting my money on Leicester to grab the
last spot from cardiff or us and Boro, they are flying.
Our defence and midfield were outstanding, El Abd a colossus and Dicker looked good and Navarro remains in his best ever Albion form.
What I did feel, apart from the magnificent Vicente weaving his usual unreal magic, is that the attacking side didn't click. Buckley got his chance
ahead of the other wingers but didn't take it. Also the big contrast between us and Reading were the respective forward lines, the ball always stuck
with Roberts and Hunt, our first touch up front was constantly letting us down. Obviously the big work by Gus has to be here.
When you look at how good Roberts was, and how Phillips has carried Blackpool to the play-offs, maybe we should be looking for a crafty veteran
warhorse to lead our line.

It was between us and Blackpool last summer when Kevin Phillips changed clubs. Unfortunately for us, his family are based in the north so we lost out.
