That was also true on Tuesday against a better team than West Ham yet Jara Reyes played well - so why the change? We had defended well against Reading. Poor Painter then had a mare for the 3rd and 4th goals, the greater physicality of Dunk and moving El Abd I think would have been understood much more by fans if a change was necessary.

I don't think quibbles of this kind detract from saying we've had a fine season - we have to have an element of realism that Gus makes mistakes as much as some of our best players and his ability to learn from them will be the difference in the club finally making the Premiership, which certainly won't be this season.

very surprising result and we are still in the mix .........just
we do have some deadwood in there and I believe some of the team selections have been a little bizarre and I believe that Gus has expressed the view that next season he wants to leave the loan market well alone and get a full squad of players ready for the season ahead,so it looks like a busy transfer market for the Albion in the Summer, hopefully Mattock will be one of those he gets on a permanent contract and maybe Assulin will be another we do I feel need some old heads in there too as Saturday's team were well experienced in the 1st division but we were playing a team that had lots of premiership experience bit of the old men against boys and that goes for the managers as well, I don't like Sam Alladyce (sp) or his tactics but he has premiership experience and it showed and hopefully Gus will also have learned from the experience along with the players.

Bridcutt, Assulin and Vicente were the only ones up for it and I do feel Dunk should've played due to his height. Oh well, onwards and upwards!

Well said Alistair - again I doubt if there was one Albion fan who could have predicted what team we would put out yesterday and that's happening too often - the pattern of the tactics is hard to see.

It's been a magnificent journey this season and the team have overperformed but there still will be a few of us thinking we could have squeezed out a few more points if some weak points in the team had been addressed and there had been greater consistency of selection. The Derby selection for me was the high point of season where we pulverised a very good, in-form team but those players were never matched up again - very strange.

Didn't quite go to plan that one. I do hope we can still end on a high as this has been such an enjoyable season.

Would love to win this one. Keep the excitement going right to the end. An opportunity to improve our away form.
